Day two is just about ready to be tucked into bed. Mom and I had our green no fruit smoothies at breakfast and at lunch. Have I told you about the green no fruit smoothies? No? Just for the record, they are not delicious. We have been using spinach, which is a mild green, and today added a little kale. Kale is a little stronger than spinach, but not by great leaps and bounds. Anywho. The only sweeteners you can use are lemon juice (which is not much of a sweetener) and Stevia (which I think tastes like Sweet-N-Low). Mom has found some Stevia that she likes, but I don't like it at all. So I cheat a little. I use raw agave nectar. I did that last time, too. I just don't like the Stevia. The problem is, in order to make the green no fruit smoothies palatable, we would have to use more of our chosen sweeteners than is allowed. Say a couple of tablespoons to begin with. Mom puts them in the little pint mason jars that have lids with straws. I suck down as much as I can at a go and then chase it with a spoonful of oatmeal (at breakfast) or Hippo Soup (at lunch). We are supposed to drink three of them a day for the first four days, but neither of us is up to it. I feel like we've really accomplished something when we suck down one. Sucking down two a day and I feel like there should be a parade in our honor. Yes, it is that icky.
We had baked potatoes and tomato-cucumber salad for dinner. I really like that salad. It really doesn't need any dressing. Mom and I were discussing it as a possible dish to take to potluck. It's light, cool, and filling. If you were to make a dressing for it, I think it would have to be a light vinaigrette. Nothing heavy or creamy.
I forgot to weigh on the first morning, but the last time I weighed (a week or so ago) I was at 256 pounds. As of this morning, I am at 255.1 pounds. I will be weighing in at the beginning of each section of each phase, as I did last time. I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to see and feel the difference between where I was a year ago and where I am now. I can't wait to see what this next 24 days will bring in both weight loss and health.
Poor Mom. She is really experiencing the joint pain and aches like I did last year. I am experiencing some as well, but I think it may be a little more for her than me. In June, Mom had an episode of Meniere's that put her in the ER. She had to take some meds for nausea and for low blood pressure. All of that lingers in your system and now I believe it's working it's way out of her muscles and joints. I know my hip/thigh muscles were not happy with the walk in and out to the parking lot on Friday. However, we are gamely keeping on.
That's all for today, folks. I hope you all have a wonderful night. Sweet dreams.
