Hello, fellow adventurers. It's been nearly a year since last I wrote in this journal. Today is August the first and once again, I am embarking upon the "Detox of Health". I have been very naughty in not writing in the interim, so I will catch you up on what has been going on over the last 11 months.
I didn't immediately start eating healthier, although I did refrain from buying McDonald's or Carl's Junior for a time. I did make the effort, but it was only that: an effort. Some of you that read my other blog, Divine Lunacy, will know that in October we received devastating news. My Dad's cancer had returned with a vengeance and was throughout his bones/body. He passed away early on the morning of Tuesday, December 10, 2013. Fast forward to the end of January and an interesting proposal from my Mom. She had started reading Dr. John McDougall's book titled The Starch Solution before my Dad got really bad. She asked me if I would consider moving in with her and starting this program with her. She would cook all the food. I considered it and accepted. I moved in with her on January 31, 2014 and we began the adventure of the Starch Solution. I have, to date, lost 51 pounds.
So, here we are again and this time, my Mom is going on the adventure with me. Today's breakfast was a green no fruit smoothie and a bowl of oatmeal. Not too bad. I still don't like just plan green smoothies, but I got it down with the help of a spoonful of oatmeal after each very long gulp. The nice thing is that this program has been modified and refined. We only have to have a pint in the morning and a pint in the evening. And it's only for four days. After that, we can begin to add fruit. I have something to look forward to.
I hope you will forgive me for not writing, as I had stated I would. Sometimes time and circumstances get in the way of good intentions. And, yes, I have heard the one about good intentions and a certain paved road. I will tell you what I am learning and what is beginning to sink in. Most of the time you just have to jump in with both feet. If you don't, you may lose out on something wonderful; something you don't want to miss out on. I am trying to live more Carpe Diem and let God take care of all the rest. He's the one in control anyway, so why not give Him the steering wheel and let Him drive?
Well, it's time to sign off, but I will write more this evening. Just want to let you all know I am alive and well.
Yippi Kiyay, cow patty! Here we go!
